--WebHelpMe is not about making you pay 1500 USD
for a modified blog template signed by pseudo-webdesign
gurus who are much more expert in self-promotion than Internet Development;
--WebHelpMe is not about selling you ebooks
that will cure you from cancer (yes
unfortunately there are sites about this);
--WebHelpMe is not about enrolling you

make you millionaire in a day and that will steal all your money in a row;
--WebHelpMe does NOT plan to make you download

a permanent monthly subscription to
undesired services;
--WebHelpMe is not about making you
install free torrent software enriched
by Spyware and Rootkits.
--WebHelpMe is not about stuffing 799 AdSense
adverts on a page made plagiarizing 2 or 3 random
sites about the most paid search keywords.
--WebHelpMe is not about demanding you to
make sex show on webcam or to pay someone
to see the performance.
--In short, WebHelpMe isn't about Spam
and Scam (quite the opposite, it is
also, not only, about help in identifying it).
--This is site is about what its own name describes (yes, for once a site has a name that describes its purpose). "Web
Help Me" is simply about direct, sensible, honest help between two persons through Internet- persons who both have some
kind of small or big problem and who, for some reason want to see if someone somewhere is able to contribute to its solution in exchange for our support about their trouble.
Q:
So how do I solve a problem on this site?
A:
--Simply put, this site offers you a given amount of time to discuss the problem with someone who feels able to provide some useful material (or advice), to progress towards its solution. IT can be a social, technical or language problem - as long as it is somewhat Internet, Culture, Technology, or Human Nature related, this site can help a bit.
--It is obvious that we cannot offer any warranty of immediate Enlightenment or endless Wisdom. There is no black magic or clarvoyance here - nobody here is promising you to make miracles (no scam and no spam, see above). On lucky days we may even have a ready-made solution for something asked by someone, but that cannot be always the case.
--In general, what WebHelpMe offers you is the direct, interactive, human access to a quite informed point of view - a direct Internet channel to discuss the problem with an intelligent, prepared, available and capable person who is most likely knowledgeable enough to let you know something useful and that you are missing or neglecting in handling your problem. For now I am the person (other people may join).
-- I have various degrees of competence in several vaulable fields, will spend time on the problems where I can help, and I will warn / comment about my ability or availability to help about your trouble once I hear it in brief (if help cannot be given, we won't waste your time and will say straight ahead).
Q:
How does it work?
A:
--We have a ASK HELP button, which it is indeed the launch key for a text-based chatroom where we will operate when online, ready to pick up your input and give you directives about how and where we can proceed. Post there your problem with simple, short and clear description, possibly including hints to know at what stage of "resolution" you are. For instance, this kind of query would be very easy for us to assess and assist:
---"how do I install the web script called XXXXX on the server ZZZ?
The guide says CHMOD the directory, what is chmod?",
--"where do I find good information about YYYYYYY?
I have read Wikipedia but THIS aspect is missing",
--"is the offer ZZZZZZ of company YYYYY a fraud?
I read it on WWWWW, is it credible?").
--"What is wrong with men? They keep adding me on
my messenger and keep asking to obscene stuff -
how do I avoid it?"
--"Why I keep getting this much of SPAM? I am
searching ways to block it from reaching my box."
[Note that obviously with ZZZ XXXX WWWW YYY etc we mean some
specific and descriptive name related to the issue]
--If me or some helper is online, we will read this almost in real time and we will decide very fast whether we can provide useful help or not. If we can, we will talk to you in the "chatroom" and will arrange how to proceed further. It is obvious we cannot solve all the troubles of the universe at the same time, but we can take care of alot of requests per day. If you hear from us at once, it means you have the time/ space / chance to be helped according to the conditions. At that point it is up to you - we talk directly, so everything can be discussed real time.
Q:
Are there topics that we cannot discuss
and problems you don't want to touch?
A:
--You can post absolutely WHATEVER question you want about ANYTHING about which you need help. Of course we cannot promise that all topics will fall within our field of expertise or willingness to help. In particular we are _NOT_ keen to discuss generally illegal practices, nor practices that damage other people. That is out of question. Certainly, we can discuss about illegal practices to help AGAINST them - for instance we can discuss how to recognize fraud or spam. Again, any questions can be asked, the answers are possible but not warranted.
Q:
Is it completely and absolutely free?
A:
--Well no. When applicable, we will surely lead you to free or cheap resources that we know, but we can't give direct human help for pure philanthropy. This is honest and transparent, but it is not a random gift. Nothing is authentically free under all aspects. The contemporary world isn't free - neither in the sense of "gratis" ("free beer", no economic prices to pay) nor in the sense of absolute freedom of expression ("freedom of speech"). Everything has a price, in various forms and in various meanings.
--Even a prize in a contest or a random lottery is just an investment repaid by the people who participate. Everything we do on the long term and that costs money to be done has a price, which can be (re)paid directly or indirectly. For instance, hosting a site or reloading a car with fuel costs money; expressing objectionable opinions or being offensive against the mainstream values costs in terms of isolation and rejection from the predominant system (eg, if you are a emo, you aren't going to be popular at school; if you do that piercing or tattoo, your employer is going to frown etc).
--Moreoever, as we stated WebHElpMe is an exchange of help: I help you, you help me. HEre I am offering you my time and my experience about Internet in the widest sense, and for doing so I am hosting / advertising / managing the site (it costs in itself) and when I (and people who help on site) do this, I am also doing this activity rather than another kind of task, job or hobby - so I am spending my own time in a way rather than another - and time can be money.
--What I expect is that you help me at least to keep doing this and paying its costs, if what I can provide is valuable for you. This is about exchange of help - while I may indeed give free help in very special cases, this is not going to be one way. You have your problem to propose and to get some suggestion about, I have obviously expenses to cover and investment of time to justify.
Q:
So what does this cost? What is the catch?
A:
--It is very simple - I have concluded that I will not feel to waste my time nor yours (and I have calculated that I will not go in loss), if a person who expresses a problem that I feel able to handle with suggestions will send 2 USD during the 20/30 mins I will devote to discuss the problem with him/her. So if we have to put it in pricetag terms - it is 2 USD per 20 to 30 minutes of useful, focused, productive and possibly resolutive discussion on the issue you will be free to name in advance and that I will "undertake" only if I feel prepared to do so.
Q:
2 USd is too much for 20 mins.
A:
--We think it is an extremely altruistic fee for us to ask, if we provide you some immediate, practical and useful help for you to use for your own more or less urgent issue. 20 to 30 mins spent well on a valid topic are a large amount of time - conference writers have suggested that 50 minutes are a micro-century. If well used 50 minutes are enough to introduce exhaustively almost any topic in very academic way - more than 50 minutes on the same topic tend to bore the audience and lose the focus.
--We think that 20 to 30 mins are more than adequate to guide someone to resolve a precise technical problem and/or to find valid sources to consult for further progress with a given hardship. And givent that many people in some of my activities are paid 30 to 50 USD per hour, this is fundamentally volunteering on our side. If you cannot help back with the equivalent of 2 USD, then please keep them with our blessings, you surely need them.
Q:
How do I pay?
A:
--The usual ways you see around the Web will be ok. In order to avoid spam and misunderstandings, we discuss this directly once we talk - Today, thankfully there are ALOT of payment gateways to send micro amounts of money online and here we have more or less access to all of them.
Q:
So you accept only cash?
A:
--No, I may be interested to hear what kind of help you can give back, and I would accept it in exchange, if it fits my current needs. But in this case, please consider that I may not be able to trust you right away, so my own support and your own "compensation" may take more time to be negotiated and exchanged.
--Money, virtual or otherwise, exist exactly to make the "trade", be it very informal or very structured, fast and smooth. Barter can anyway happen sometimes, so if you really want help without cash exchange, and if you have something that is equivalent, go ahead and tell me what you can do for me as counterpart.
Q:
I can find the solution on Google.
A:
--Possibly - it simply means that somewhere there is someone who shared it. But I am pretty sure that you won't find informed, available and interactive human help that easily anywhere quasi for free. Moreover, maybe you may need help to use that engine or anothe resource at the very best. I promise there are alot of tricks and secrets that you won't find out about that engine, not even seeking on it.
Q:
Some forum user or administrator will help me for free.
A:
--Of course this happens all the time - there are many friendly and knowledgeable individuals who volunteer and whp help other people for hobby and vocation, also and overall on Internet - be it in forums, irc, opensource projects or social networks. We see help given for free, and given well everyday, anyway, everyday, alongside the people helped well, we see as many people remaining with their problems. We see as many people who remain ignored, abandoned, dismissed or (worse) misled and deceived.
--While the forum user or the friendly volunteer will help you when they can and when they like, leaving you alone otherwise, the management of this site, when active, will be immediately able to provide you a response of more than satisfactory kind about any of the topics about which we feel knowledgeable. Moreover, searching help for free in forums and the like costs you time - time that could be spent better. Sometimes we think that a minimal cost for a resolutive help can be worth the price, if nothing else for time time spare.
Q:
So nobody can help me for free here?
A:
--If some other user, skillful in the task you need, is online at the same time, hears your request and wants to help out of generousity, he/she will be welcome to use this channel at public level for the purpose. Of course, we cannot warrant there will be someone for free for you when you need it. Paying a limited contribution makes the chances of availability and dedication dramatically higher.
Q:
What if I am not satisfied?
A:
--Well if you described the problem and accepted the help that has been proposed as worth the cost, I think there is absolutely NO reason to be dissatisfied. This is an agreement among adult Gentlemen: you expose your problem, I will tell you what I can provide as help for its resolution, and in exchange I expect an extremely limited amount of money that is worth the effort and that keeps things running.
--You will know in advance the substance of what I can do (example: "I will explain you in real time how to install this script in 15/30 mins"). What will be offered as help WILL BE GIVEN at any cost on my side. If it will take a hour for reasons independent from you, I will take 1 hour without expecting more than the requested. If you are interested, you will accept the deal and it will not be a waste. In all cases we are talking of extremely limited amounts - so the risk is almost null.
--Then again be sure that if I were here to scam people, I wouldn't last long. This is about honesty in giving support when possible and ability to honor the agreements. There is already plenty of fraud in our world, at all levels, in all contexts. This is not about increasing it. In case we can help to recognize scams.
Q:
Can I donate after if I am happy?
A:
--Well it seems not very credible in general, you see. Unfortunately historical data in general and Internet business in particular show that the donation-based activities, except for a few very recognized, authoritative and admired entities, don't work very well. Most people tend to be free-riders, in other words they take the help or advantage that they can get without giving anything back.
-- It is part of human nature. And since we are humans and not gods, we need to share, with good will, our limited resources, in favor of persons who deserve and benefit. The persons who deserve and benefit of our help are the ones who have a problem we can handle in some way and that can provide the payment/ reward / fuel that we need to continue. If we do not do so, we do not go anywhere.
Q:
Why you do this?
A:
--Let's see, because the World is a cold and selfish machine that butchers the losers to feed the winners, without ghosts in the engine, nor goals for the future; because no one else will give a shit about you in general out of calculated profit, and because we need to keep the human spirit alive in the cash system (this means that I must also make you give me something back, albeit trivial at material level).
--Because I think, for long-term past experience of helping friends or acquaintances out, that it is something I can excel at, that can give me satisfaction, that is very required by people around the world, and that extremely few people are actually able or willing to provide in person, let alone on Internet. The world is always more vertical a la Metropolis (Fritz Lang).
--We have massive businesses with unlimited capital able to dictate merciless conditions, an underworld of fraudsters and liars ready to manipulate and deceive, and an infinite reality of atomized "netizens" with very limited resources usually forced to accept contracts and conditions without being really informed, without being able to distinguish between true and false, and without all the tools to recognize the best choice. I am not a massive company, I don't want to be a fraudster and have more knowledge than the typical netizen. So I thought that this idea of WebHelpMe, a very rare thing indeed if you ask me, could help the average Joe or the typical Mary to face better MegaCorp_0001 or super_liar_xxxx.
Q:
Are you a Socialist?
A:
--No sweetie. I am myself. They do classify my intelligence kind as the of INTJ - "visionary prophet", but I am always very realist and anti-Uthopia.
Q:
Can everyone use this site?
A:
-We would prefer to deal with adult people over 18 to be sure that they have full legal rights in almost every country to use the web-service they find fit, including ours and the payment gateway. Other than that anything over 16 will be considered acceptable for general questions.
Q:
Do you collect personal information?
A:
--Honestly not really. I am sure that interacting with us you will reveal as little personal information as you would share with the bartender at the pub where you drink a beer - you can tell your tale and pay the bill quite anonymously - and here we don't even see how you look like.
Q:
What language can I use?
A:
--The one you like, we think that we can handle almost all of them. Obviously English at basic level is necessary to use most sites on the Internet at the current time, and WebHelpMe is no exception under this aspect.
Q:
Who are you?
A:
--As maker of the site, I am also the first/ principal user who will be giving help to the visitors who need and ask. YOu can say I am a hacker for forma mentis, culture, interest and lifestyle. I am a highly intelligent person with a wide experience about Internet and a quite large curriculum of studies in human sciences and social studies.
--I can program in most Web-related languages with extreme ease (html, php, js, ajax, css), and have usually no trouble with anything web-site related. Dedicated Servers, mysql config and DNS setup are daily bread, literally. Hobby achievements include sites with 5000 daily visitors, photorealistic portraits and such. I am pretty good with multimedia, art and copywriting in general. I tend to impress people at intellectual level - I do make people laugh with a wicked sense of humour.
--I am good at teaching short specialized stuff of which I have mastery - for instance, I excel at writing/ giving tutorials about what a person needs to do to get to a specific step or goal, also in interactive form on messengers. I have been told that conversation with me is not only very informational but also pleasant and almost addictive, be it on Internet or face to face.
--English is not my first language, but more often than not people think it is. I can handle the world's major languages in terms of general understanding and basic written response. I have met very few people who had a general culture wider than mine, and I am very, very interested in sharing it with people who don't find it bothering, irritating or threatening. Try me out....
